1) What is breathwork?
-Breathwork is a powerful breathing technique. When we do breathwork we take in much more oxygen than we normally do, and so there is a change of state in the body. Because of this we are able to access the subconscious mind, and we use this for healing, therapy and personal development.
2) Can anyone do breathwork?
-Yes, anyone can do breathwork, whether you're young or in your golden years. However, if you have high blood pressure, heart disease, kidney disease, or severe panic attacks, you should consult your doctor first. If you have asthma, make sure to bring your inhaler to your sessions, and if you're pregnant it may be best to wait until the child is born.
3) What are the 1:1 sessions like?
-The 1:1 sessions are typically 2 hours long. It begins with a counselling style intake where we explore your personal history to see what patterns may have emerged, what wounds may need to be healed, and the foundation upon which your beliefs are built. Then you are guided and supported as you breathe for 1 hour. After we discuss integration exercises for how to put change into action.
4) What are the benefits of breathwork?

5) How often should I do breathwork?
-That is up to you and what your intentions are. If you are wanting to create real change, a minimum of 10 sessions is recommended, with a session every 2 weeks to keep a momentum going. After that, you can feel where you're at, and whether you'd like to continue or take some time to further integrate.
6) What is the difference between all the types of breathwork?
-Whether it's the Wim Hof Method, Biodynamic breathwork, or Clarity breathwork, there are a lot of different types of breathwork out there these days and that can be confusing. Many of the breathwork types we see are brand names that are off-shoots from the core types of breathwork, with each brand's personal take on it. Many of them are based on what's called 'conscious connected breathing' or continuous breathing where the inhale and exhale are connected and the body is flooded with oxygen.
Clarity breathwork is one of them. It was designed by Dana DeLong and Ashanna Solaris, who have been healing people around the world with breathwork and have a combined experience of over 60 years. 7) Can I do breathwork on my own?
-While technically speaking you could, we don't recommend it especially if you are untrained. In the same sense that you could cut your own hair, results of breathing on your own will be different. There are 2 main factors:
A practitioner can help you go deeper into you psyche to release pain or untangle patterns, and they can also guide you out of a memory or feeling if you get caught in a trauma loop. So, working with a professional is safer.
Secondly, our practitioners focus on integration. Information without action isn't very useful. So, we take the information that's come up in the breath, and then create actionable plans to foster real change. Otherwise, without any support it can feel like you've unraveled a whole mess of things and it can be very overwhelming trying to make sense of it, let alone create meaningful change with it. Support and integration are a big focus at Transcend because it's key to transformation.
